The "Black and White Campaign – Together we are louder" continues through the "More effective role of the public and civil society in monitoring and protecting workers’ rights" project. For a third year consecutively, we are working on the motivation and inclusion of civil society organisations in the topic of workers’ rights. For this purpose an open competition was launched in order to allocate funds for 5 local organisations and this competition lasted until 19th February.
28 organisations entered the competition from all over Serbia. All of these organisations clearly presented their local communities and the issues with which workers in Kraljevo, Kruševac, Niš, Novi Sad, Arilje and others are faced with. The proposed projects were quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated by a team of experts in workers’ rights, the civil sector and communication and the supervisory member was a representative of the donors.
The commission chose the following organisations:
- Lingva – I have the right to know!
- The Local Democracy Centre – Are we working with dignity?
- The "Civil Action Forum Association – FORCA" – You should know!
- The Creative Development Society – Ripples
- The "Artesa" Woman’s Association – The Invisible Worker
Educative training was prepared for these organisations where their ideas will be combined into a final project. On this occasion members of the ‘Black and White’ coalition will convey their experiences through numerous sessions – the concept of dignified work, the institutional and legal framework, building local coalitions, carrying out direct campaigns, using traditional and modern media channels in negotiations, etc.
At the beginning of March the chosen organisations will begin implementation of their respective projects. Their activities and results will be monitored regularly and we will report this data on the crnonabelo.com portal and our other social networks.
The "Centre for Democracy" Foundation is implementing a project entitled "More effective role of the public and civil society in monitoring and protecting workers’ rights", within the framework of the "Civil Society Forward" programme implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Communities, through USAID.
